Bio
Since her childhood, Neeta Kumar has been single-minded in her daily aim to beautify every single space that she encountered. This driving urge was offset by being the latest in a long line of furniture lovers and makers. After gaining her Master’s in Business Administration, she built upon her love for design and furniture through a Diploma in Product and Furniture Design from Central St. Martins and Chelsea College of Art and Design (UK). And for over a decade, Neeta has been putting her talents and training to remarkable use in the world of interior design, furniture design and production and bespoke creations. Today, Neeta Kumar’s services and products have become the first choice of demanding and discerning home-owners who will settle for nothing but the best to adorn their living and work areas.
She possesses a rare combination of aesthetic sense, an ability to draw inspiration from unlimited sources, and the drive to create products that are singular in their looks but enduring in their quality. Neeta also believes that every home must be a place that one cherishes and feels cherished in. A simple thought which requires precise and complex execution.
As a natural outgrowth of putting this philosophy into practice, Neeta’s retail outlet Inhabit came to being in 2004. An ISO certified company, it does everything from design, manufacture, market, distribute, deliver, and install. All this while offering premium quality products in stunning reclaimed teakwood, and versatile looks inspired by a myriad of styles and textures. With several outlets in Hyderabad and Vijaywada, increasing interest and demand have led to the store soon opening its doors in other parts of India as well.
Unlike a majority of furniture designers and producers, Neeta doesn’t believe in mass-production or constraining her work to a single style or look. She enjoys experimenting, and revels in the challenge of creating furniture, interior designs and home accents that are individualistic, elegant, and practical. Consequently, she has done extensive bespoke work and handled turnkey projects that demanded a broadness of vision, the discipline to adhere to set budgets and timelines, and the skill to effortlessly incorporate a variety of requirements with existing spaces or art and furniture collections.
Her facility for blending classic characteristics and silhouettes with modern furbishing spans across styles and moods. Her creative range is broad, incorporating both the latest and best in international trends as well as the most valuable and evergreen from Indian and Asian traditions. Through earlier bespoke and signature lines, she awakened the Indian market to the limitless charms of the Shabby Chic look, set new standards for furniture for the elite - peerless in quality, sleekly opulent in look – the Vivanta line, and revived the age-old art form of Ralli textiles through a collection significant for it’s bold, vibrant and earthy appearance. And these are just to name a few from her dynamic and prolific portfolio.
A fount of creative productivity, Neeta finds the challenge of designing ‘timelessly current’ pieces and homes to be vast but exhilarating. As she goes from strength to strength in her quest to make the world, especially your home, a more beautiful place, she lets us in on the secret to her continuous success, “Attention to detail, zero compromise on quality, and design that’s beautiful, versatile, and well-thought out. This is what keeps my clients coming back again, and again.”
